Moving Out

Planning to vacate your storage unit? Here’s everything you need to know before moving out.

How do I give notice before moving out?
You must provide at least 15 days’ notice before your monthly anniversary date of the storage agreement.
Notice must be in writing—via email, post, or in person at your Spot Self Storage location.
Include your name, unit number, and the date you wish to cancel.
Be sure to inform us as soon as you decide you no longer need your unit.

What do I need to do before leaving my unit?
Empty the unit completely and sweep it clean.
Remove your lock—as long as the lock remains, your contract may be extended.

What should I do with my lock?
Your lock belongs to you, so please take it with you.

Can I leave unwanted items in the unit?
No, all units must be completely emptied and cleaned before moving out.
If you no longer need certain items, please dispose of them properly before returning the unit.

What happens if I don’t move out on time?
If you haven’t vacated by your planned move-out date, your rental contract will be extended.
The standard notice period of 15 days before your billing cycle date will still apply.

What if my plans change?
Need to continue renting? No problem—just let us know, and your contract remains active.
Require less space? You can switch to a smaller unit at no extra transfer cost.
Our on-site manager can help you find the perfect unit size for your needs.
